It's Summer Splash time, time for seeing my brothers, raising hell and generally having a great weekend. I have been looking forward to this run for a while now. Last time I was here, I was a prospect so as you can imagine, I am planning on having a better time this year! The ride down was pretty uneventful, you can read the ride report in the 'John and Linnea go to the coast" ride report . We got the the campground Friday night after dropping our stuff of at the hotel. I ran around a bit and socialized while my wife talked to a few of the other OL's. Although the event started on Friday, many of the brothers didn't get here still Saturday, sometimes having a job gets in the way of things!
Registration During the day time, most of us spent the time socializing and catching up with each other. I am pretty sure a few tall tales were told also. My OL was trying to see if she could start a Jaeger shortage while I ran around taking pictures. Most of my brothers came down on Sat so I had already been there for a while when they arrived.
Muddy VNVMC and PushStart LVMC About 6 or so, the chow line opened. G chap did a great job with the food. We had BBQ pork , BBQ chicken, home made potato salad and baked beans. Congrats to the brothers and their OL's for making sure everyone ate well. After dinner we had the POW-MIA ceremony. Although this event is primarily a party, as a club, we never forget our primary purpose which is to keep fighting for POWs and MIAs. The POW-MIA ceremony is a reminder of why our club exists.

After business was taken care of, it was time to cut loose. For the 3rd year in a row Dennis and the Menace rocked the house. If you want a good cover band to play your gig, you should check these guys out.
DATM The band keep everyone rocking while everyone was getting into the party mood. About 10 or so, it was time for the wet t-shirt contest. Luckily, being the chapter reporter has it's advantages as I was able to position myself front and center for this. We did things a bit differently this year, We raffled off the right to be the guy to pour the water on the ladies. Brother Easy apparently is either wealthier or more perverted than the rest of us as he put up the bucks to have the honors.
The contest was kicking and of course the crowd was into it. My brother Muddy, who also takes alot of pics for my chapter was down there with me taking some good pics. The girls, egged on by the crowd put on a good show. In the end, we had no clear winner so we had to declare a tie. Of course, we had the finalist go an extra round to see if we could get a clear crowd favorite.
Damm tough choice After the co-winners were announced, DATM took the stage again and kept the party going for another few hours. I headed back to the hotel about 1 or so. As with all club events, I had a great time and am looking forward to the next gig we put on. |
